Sneak peek Evolutionary Journey Tarot
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 4 May 2016

Changing the numbers of the tarot cards to fit into your concept is a bold move. One that won’t go down well with everyone. But, if you don’t mind a change in your divination system as long as it has merit or logic, you might want to check out the newest Kickstarter campaign now. I am talking about The Evolutionary Journey Tarot, a creation of tarot reader, teacher and author Richard Hartnett who put at least two decades of work and thought into this newest concept. The design is currently being worked on by several renowned fantasy artists (you’ll find all their names in the campaign clip). Missing archetypes The art is classic and reminds me a bit of the Robin Wood Tarot, only brighter. It’s colorful, hand drawn and not too slick. I think the style of the Evolutionary Journey Tarot will speak to many readers, especially those working with the Waite-Smith (on which system it is partly based). The deck is evolutionary in the way that it adds 6 extra cards to tarot that fit well-known archetypes and that have been present in our daily and spiritual life over the last years. According to Hartnett they have been…

Sneak peek: New Choice Tarot

You can discover so much when cruising around Instagram (also it helps if someone tags you. Thx, LB!). In this case I noticed a new tarot artist and one that has taken it upon himself to make a contemporary version of one of the most treasured systems around: the Tarot de Marseille. (Did you hear that gasp too?) Artist Rosario Salerno is primarily a sculptor but came into contact with tarot at a very young age already. For the longest time he stopped reading after his priest told him he was dealing with the devil. But last year, luckily not being pestered by religious interdictions anymore, he was reminded of his love for the cards again and that made him decide to get reacquainted with a deck. This time as an art-project. The New Choice Tarot is the result and Salerno is already quite far with his prints. Jodorowsky’s Tarot bible The designer chose to make a version of the Tarot of Marseilles after reading The Way of Tarot by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Marianne Costa. In an interview with Tarot T-shirts (some of his work is used for prints) he said: “Jodorowsky has not only written this bible of Tarot, but…

Sneak peek: Twisted Tarot Tales
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 12 April 2016

UPDATE II: A review on the Twisted Tarot Tales is coming in the first week of October 2016 as part of the Winter Wonderland of Extraordinary Tarot. Felt like the TTT was *the* best deck to kick-off such a theme 😉 UPDATE APRIL 24TH 2016: Instead of Kickstarter the campaign will run on Indiegogo, starting tomorrow on April 25th. The makers of the deck have created a very informative website on Twisted Tarot Tales in case you want to see more. ORIGINAL POST: I love a bit of controversy, so it is with pleasure I show you the sneak peek of the nearly finished The Twisted Tarot Tales deck. A deck that is all about horror comics and has shocked a few readers already. My take: even if you will never read with it, buy it as a collector’s deck! I am anticipating my review there a bit. Who knows, I might come to a different conclusion. But I think not. James Battersby and his partner Christine are responsible for this ‘controversial’ deck. Not surprisingly because they have quite the reputation after their Cultural Revolution deck. (Although I never really understood why people had such an issue with that one…

Sneak peek: Gospel of Aradia Oracle
News , Oracle , Sneak peek / 12 April 2016

A sneak peek of a deck that is ready for order, because The Gospel of Aradia can become available at any moment and be on its way to your home. This oracle deck, by Stacey Demarco & Jimmy Manton, honors the mystery of the story of Aradia, a spiritual legend from the Middle Ages. The Gospel of Aradia is a 34 card deck, that comes with a guidebook in a hardcover box (like all by Blue Angel). It revolves around Aradia, a woman that some claim to be a goddess and others are convinced she was a woman of flesh and blood. Perhaps she was the first witch, or even leader of a resistance movement. Spiritual growth No-one really knows, it remains a mystery. But what is known, is that she played a role as a spiritual mentor and role model for women in medieval Italy (and the rest of Europe).   The Gospel of Aradia focuses on her teachings and therefore also on spiritual growth and making obstacles moments of opportunities. With the oracle you’ll also step into world of an ancient Italian witchcraft tradition – stregoneria –and connect with those who used to risk everything to remain true…

Sneak peek: Inner Journey Tarot
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 12 April 2016

YouTube Tarot sensation and reader Angelo Nasios and fantasy artist Jon Carraher started working on a tarot deck a year ago. The Inner Journey Tarot, as they call the deck, was birthed during a class at a Tarot School somewhere in the US and the first card was made public today. The Inner Journey Tarot is the first ever tarot deck to take you *inside* the tarot. By using the deck you can experience each card from the first person point of view. So you will see how that ravine is looking from the Fool’s eyes or to whom or what the Queen of Sword is holding her hand out. First card revealed The dreaded XVI The Tower is the first of many cards being showed. Experience the fall first-hand on this card. Ah, and from the looks of it the deck is inspired by Waite-Smith, it has a slim black border and no title. Just numerals. Interested in more? I am! Overtime the duo will show more cards and you can follow the deck’s progress on the Facebook page of The Inner Journey Tarot. Ps. Angelo Nasios can add ‘author’ to his already impressive CV.
