The Card Geek’s Kipper Guide and Kipper deck: Pre-order+preview
Decks , Kipper , News / 9 October 2017

If you follow me on Eureka Readings (less active than this one, but linked to my practice) or are a friend you know I fell in love with Kipper about 2 years ago and have been certified in the traditional way of reading this 36-card system. But….good decks are seriously lacking. Especially ones that take into account which techniques are used in the Bavarian way of reading (where it originated). Not anymore! Toni Puhle just released her Kipper guide WITH accompanying deck to the world…for pre-order that is. The Card Geek’s Kipper deck and The Card Geek’s Guide to Kipper, both to be released on December 1st (so soon!). I was so excited, I used whatever info I could get from the newsletter, so forgive me for less quality pics and such. Later I will be able to add the good stuff…  Here you can see the first high quality pictures of cover and a few important cards from the deck. The Kipper goodies The book is a 200 page counting Kipper How To Guide. It starts with card meanings and moves on to how to get the most out of a Kipper read. Beginners and advanced readers can use…

What’s new in traditional tarot 2017-2018

What’s new in the world of Traditional Tarot for the coming months, up until 2018? A few decks mentioned in last year’s article are still being worked on. Michael Bridge-Dickson’s Arcanum X Tarot for example*, the Tarot Maria Celia is supposedly coming end this year through USGS, the New Choice Tarot (see below). The entrees below were the designers and publishers that answered my call when asked: who is going to treat us on some mighty fine traditionally inspired tarot books & decks?   SOLA BUSCA BOOK AND DECK: pre-order The “first faithful reproduction in 500 years” of the enigmatic 1491 Sola-Busca tarocchi will be available from the fine esoteric publishers, Scarlet Imprint, in the Fall of 2017. The pre-order for the deck started in September, shipping commences from mid-October. The Sola-Busca is not only the earliest complete tarocchi deck in existence, created by a master engraver, it is one of the finest in execution, richness of symbolism and esoteric import. Created for a Venetian patrician client, it’s fully illustrated minor suit provided Pamela Coleman-Smith with the template for the minor cards of the Smith-Waite deck. The deck will be accompanied by a 66 page sewn booklet, ‘A Guide to…

Sneak Peek: The Minoan Tarot
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 20 May 2016

I am a huge Grecophile, actually lived on Crete and I am an historian. So the fact that the Minoan Tarot grabbed my attention is quite logical. But I would do the artist a disservice if I left it at that. The Minoan Tarot, now up for pre-order, and hand drawn by Laura Perry is definitely something different despite already so many Ancient history (Greek or Egyptian) decks out there. First of all, the Minoan culture has only been portrayed on a deck *once* before – that I know of. And that deck looks quite different, with another take on the suits and names of the Majors. The very colorful cards are inspired by frescoes, jewelry, pottery and carved seal stones created by the Minoans. And that is indeed visible, also in the style of the art. Border-change This is not the definite version yet – something about the borders is going to change. My hope is Perry will keep the fitting colored ones, find a solution for the titles and skip the yellow in its entirety. But all in all you can definitely see how this deck might look once its done. Not everyone will think this art is…
