Sneak peek: Twisted Tarot Tales
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 12 April 2016

UPDATE II: A review on the Twisted Tarot Tales is coming in the first week of October 2016 as part of the Winter Wonderland of Extraordinary Tarot. Felt like the TTT was *the* best deck to kick-off such a theme 😉 UPDATE APRIL 24TH 2016: Instead of Kickstarter the campaign will run on Indiegogo, starting tomorrow on April 25th. The makers of the deck have created a very informative website on Twisted Tarot Tales in case you want to see more. ORIGINAL POST: I love a bit of controversy, so it is with pleasure I show you the sneak peek of the nearly finished The Twisted Tarot Tales deck. A deck that is all about horror comics and has shocked a few readers already. My take: even if you will never read with it, buy it as a collector’s deck! I am anticipating my review there a bit. Who knows, I might come to a different conclusion. But I think not. James Battersby and his partner Christine are responsible for this ‘controversial’ deck. Not surprisingly because they have quite the reputation after their Cultural Revolution deck. (Although I never really understood why people had such an issue with that one…

Sneak peek: Inner Journey Tarot
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 12 April 2016

YouTube Tarot sensation and reader Angelo Nasios and fantasy artist Jon Carraher started working on a tarot deck a year ago. The Inner Journey Tarot, as they call the deck, was birthed during a class at a Tarot School somewhere in the US and the first card was made public today. The Inner Journey Tarot is the first ever tarot deck to take you *inside* the tarot. By using the deck you can experience each card from the first person point of view. So you will see how that ravine is looking from the Fool’s eyes or to whom or what the Queen of Sword is holding her hand out. First card revealed The dreaded XVI The Tower is the first of many cards being showed. Experience the fall first-hand on this card. Ah, and from the looks of it the deck is inspired by Waite-Smith, it has a slim black border and no title. Just numerals. Interested in more? I am! Overtime the duo will show more cards and you can follow the deck’s progress on the Facebook page of The Inner Journey Tarot. Ps. Angelo Nasios can add ‘author’ to his already impressive CV. Tarot Unlocking the Arcana…

Sneak peek: Dreams of Gaia Tarot
News , Sneak peek , Tarot / 12 April 2016

Blue Angel Publishing announced some of its upcoming releases. One beauty, based on the pictures, is Dreams of Gaia Tarot. This deck, with artwork by Ravynne Phelan (aka Michele-lee Phelan), is almost ten years in the making and especially interesting for those who like healing and huge tarot cards. The 81 cards come with black borders, gold-gilded edges and a 308-page guidebook. The philosophy of the Dreams of Gaia Tarot is to seek, to feel, to grow and to heal. The idea behind the tarot deck is that you’ll strengthen the connection to your divine self all the while helping you to heal past experiences that hold you back in the present. By using Dreams of Gaia you will be able to live to your fullest potential. Different archetypes The Dreams of Gaia Tarot has both a major and minor arcana, but in a way tarot readers can’t envision until they have the deck in their hands. It is divided into life phases, influences and reasons for being. So don’t expect The Chariot, The Tower or Hanged Man for example. This del comes with new archetypes, symbology and meanings that the artist thinks is more suited to the present. That statement…

Indiegogo campaign Starlight Dragon Tarot live
News , Tarot / 7 April 2016

The Indiegogo campaign for the Starlight Dragon Tarot has started today. If you have no idea to what tarot deck I am referring to, read my previous article on the cards. The Starlight Dragon tarot campaign will run for a month (so until May 7th) and once funded the deck will be send to backers in August or September already. For the last year both author and tarot reader Steph Engert and artist Nora Huszka worked diligently and practically full-time on the deck, which is one of the reasons backers will be able to receive their beauty so soon. On the campaign page a few more details about the deck are made known. Revelations are:  -No borders (happy Queen!) – Because of the ‘tiptoe’ shape the cards can be made into image-mandala’s and create very interesting puzzle-spreads. – No titles, but only elemental/astrological symbols and numerals sign on the minors. – Courts are also attributed to the elements – All the cards have so-called elemental rings, so you’ll see how the energy flows between the cards within your spread. Sounds like at least an intermediate deck to me. But definitely one that is promising to add something new to the table. The…
